It’s the moment we’ve all been anticipating ever since George Ezra stepped off stage in 2019, after his extensive touring schedule in support of 2018 sophomore record, Staying At Tamara’s, but (and it feels SO good to be finally saying this) – GEORGE EZRA IS BACK!
George announced his comeback last week across social media, telling his delighted fans, “I can’t quite believe I’m saying this, in fact I’m not exactly sure how to say this… I guess… NEW MUSIC! It’s true! My single ‘Anyone For You’ will be out next Friday, 28th January!’, alongside a teaser clip of the music video and a pre-save link.
So, naturally, it’s all I’ve been able to think about for the past seven days, especially because Staying At Tamara’s was my favourite album for a solid two years, remaining in heavy rotation in my headphones whenever I was in need of some positive vibes.
But today (28/01/22), George Ezra’s first new release in four years is upon us, and it is the positivity that I think we can all agree we need right now!
With its jazzy piano, uplifting lyrics and that incredibly catchy, joyous, sing-along chorus, Anyone For You, is the euphoric track that is guaranteed to leave you with a massive smile plastered across your face, upon hearing just the opening bars.
Explaining to Greg James on the Radio 1 Breakfast show this morning, George Ezra said that this track came from some old journals that had “lyric ideas and stories”, and “Anyone For You was one of these patchwork songs”.
But this isn’t all we’re getting from George Ezra! The release of the new single also comes with the unveiling of Ezra’s third studio album! Titled Gold Rush Kid, and set for release on 10th June 2022, you can preorder here! (I have my eyes firmly set on that beautiful gold vinyl – I need it in my life!)
And if that’s not enough Ezra for you this morning, then he has also announced three warm-up shows across the UK, set to happen next month, in order to debut some of the new material that he will be gracing us with this summer!
